FAQs

Q?What will the project cost?
A.

This is a crucial question, and it has everything to do with proper planning and thorough, valid estimating. Our years of experience allow us to make ballpark estimates that will not “pull any punches,” but rather give you a clear indication of the probable costs for the project you have in mind. You don’t want “surprises” any more than we do, and it’s one of our hallmarks of service that we don’t just tell you what you want to hear, but rather give you well-considered, accurate information on which to base your decisions.

Q?Will an addition really complement our home?
A.

There is no reason why a well-designed and well-planned addition should not complement your existing home.

Q?Should we buy a new home, or build an addition?
A.

A consultation would give you your options for both approaches. This is a good question, and the best way to find the answer is to consult with Personalized Creative Additions.

Q?How long does a project usually take?
A.

This of course depends entirely on the scope of the project. The addition of a garage will clearly take far less time overall than would building a new Victorian on an unimproved lot.

Q?Do you manage the project and oversee the contractors?
A.

Yes, if you elect to have us perform this service for you, it is one of the most valuable services we provide. Most people have never had a new home built or had an addition done to their existing home, and the entire process can be arduous for someone who has never undertaken a project of this magnitude before. Our project management services step in and take care of the entire process for you from start to finish, taking a lot of the worry out of having a new home or addition built.

Q?What about getting building permits or variances?
A.

We have been successful on many occasions in obtaining permitting and variances handled by the proper authorities because we have solid experience in preparing and presenting before towns and county officials. Rest assured that if a permit or variance is needed, Personal Creative Additions has the experience and the expertise to see to it that these are handled for you.

Q?We’ve heard so many “horror stories” about construction projects. Can you make sure we’re well taken care of?
A.

In a word: yes. We have developed contacts and relationships with area and regional contractors over many years, and we will only work with those in which we have confidence. This is an important service we perform on your behalf: getting contractors who we can rely upon and who we have determined will do a better job.
